August’s monthly charts are out for Premium Members, but in this post I want to highlight some of the key changes to, or continuation of, the structural trends that these long-term charts provide perspective on. This 30 minutes per month is some of the most valuable time each month.
Canadian Energy Update
From the desk of Tom Bruni @BruniCharting
This week we added Canadian Stock Market and Sector Indexes and the entire TSX 60 to our chartbook coverage. To kick that off, I want to take a look at the Canadian Energy market and share what we’re seeing.
[Premium] Precious Metals Update
Friday we wrote about the US Dollar breaking out to 1-year highs and why it’s one of the most important charts we’re watching from an intermarket perspective. With that said, we always look at both sides of the story, and while the US Dollar breakout certainly adds to the bear case for Precious Metals, I want to use this post to explore all of the current bullish and bearish characteristics of the space.
Podcast Season 2 – Ep 2 – Todd Sohn, Technical Analyst at Strategas
Sponsored by Investor’s Business Daily – Todd Sohn does amazing work on a daily basis. We’re constantly communicating and sharing ideas with one another. I can tell you for a fact, there are few people in this world who look through as many charts as Todd. Our process is similar so I have really been looking forward to this conversation. We covered a lot of topics in this episode including U.S. Stocks and the sector rotation we’ve been seeing underneath the surface. Sentiment is a big part of their work over at Strategas and I find it really interesting how he incorporates analyst ratings to find ideas in the market. This is a good one! [Read more…]

Soy Much Opportunity In These Agricultural Commodities
From the Desk of Tom Bruni
Commodity strength has been a clear theme over the intermediate term, with the energy complex and base metals doing a majority of the heavy lifting in helping the CRB Index break out of its 2+ year range. The 41% of the index made up of Agricultural commodities has seen mixed performance, with Cotton and Cocoa leading and Sugar and Coffee struggling to put in any sort of meaningful bottom. However, there has been some improvement in the action in Soybeans and Soybean Meal, as well as Corn and Wheat which should support the CRB Index in moving higher. With that being said, this post is going to focus on the three Soy related commodities. [Read more…]
[Premium] Monthly Candlestick Analysis From The Top/Down
This is the most valuable analysis I do every month. When you sit there with some music on and just rip through monthly charts, it really gives you perspective. We’re taking a step back and reanalyzing the trends. It’s easy to get caught in the day-to-day noise. This exercise helps avoid getting whipped around. I encourage everyone to make their own list of Monthly Candles. [Read more…]
