Chart of the Day: Bear Markets

July 12, 2022

In bear markets, you're going to find more stocks making new lows than new highs.

That's just basic math.

In bull markets, you'll see the opposite.

Here's what today looks like: 33 consecutive weeks of more stocks hitting new lows than new highs.

You can argue this bear market started in February of 2021. And you can argue that it began in May 2021.

Either way, we're going on 14-17 months of this far.

How much longer does it last?

When do we start to get more stocks making new highs than new lows?

It's hard to call this anything but a bear market if more stocks keeping hitting new lows than new highs, right?

Please weigh in. We love to hear from you!
