If I learn something from someone and I quote it, I always do my best to also mention who I learned that from.
When someone on my team makes a good call, or builds something really valuable, I'm the first one who stands up to give them credit for it.
But this one is mine. I'll take the credit for this list.
Here's the thing though. While I did think building this would be a good idea, it has exceeded expectations across the board.
I may have made a good call. But I'm still a dummy for not realizing just how valuable this would end up being for us.
The market is humbling that way.
Without any further ado, let me present you with the All Star Charts Hall of Famers.
These are the largest 150 companies in America by market-cap. These are the stocks that are driving returns. These are the names that need to do well if you want your favorite indexes to do well too,
You guys know how much I appreciate the value we get from the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
But there are other names that are arguably just as important, or in many cases even more important, than the stocks currently included in the Dow 30 Index.
But how many should we include as "also important", like the names in the Dow.
We decided after a lot of testing that the number was 150.
Here's a list of just the very best of those:
Notice the wide range of sectors and industry groups.
Also keep in mind the size of those market-caps.
Remember these are the very biggest companies in America that are driving the directions of the major indexes.
If you get these right, you'll get the direction of the general market right.
But here's some of the added value that I was too dumb to see at first.
The number of ideas we get from this list is like no other.
These are literally the best stocks. OF COURSE WE'LL FIND TRADES YOU IDIOT!
I feel so stupid sometimes lol.
But wait, it gets worse.
Not only did I ignore the idea flow aspect of this because I was so excited about the value we're getting from an analytical perspective, I completely missed the fact that almost all of these companies have liquid options markets.
So it's both a stock trader and options trader's dream. These ideas are also available to both institutional and individual investors, because there is obviously plenty of liquidity in the common stock of these mega-cap names.
Everyone wins here.
Take a look a Parker-Hannifin. This is an $80 Billion Specialty Machinery company from Cleveland Ohio in a Secular uptrend hitting new all-time highs.
This Parker-Hannifin is presenting new opportunities from the long-side as we speak (see new trade ideas), but it has definitely already made a big move bigger picture.
Here's an example of a Hall of Famer that hasn't even broken out yet - John Deere.
Another Midwest Machinery company, this one $100 Billion from Illinois:
Again, our "Hall of Famers" were created for market analysis, without realizing the idea flow we'd get.
So let's stick with that for a second.
What does it tell you about the market when companies like this are doing what they're doing?
