Worst Part of the 4-Year Cycle

May 24, 2022

I heard a good one this morning:

Where do Traders go for Drinks?

An Outside Bar!

haha

Hat tip to Sean for that one.

Anyway, how are you enjoying what is historically the worst part of the 4-year cycle?

This composite chart above includes the annual seasonal trends since 1950, all the mid-term election years since then, and all of the 2nd years of each decade for the decennial cycle.

You can see how closely 2021 tracked the composite.

As we navigate 2022 I think it's important to remember that this is historically the worst 2 quarters of the entire 4-year cycle.

Things tend to improve towards the end of the year.

We don't like to use seasonality as an absolute, but rather as part of the process of identifying the type of market environment we're in.

And with most stocks going down, and very few stocks going up, we know it's not a bull market. It's also not a bullish time historically.

That's just what it is.

Which is one of the reasons I'm so stoked about my income portfolio.

If you haven't heard yet, Sean is publishing all the trades he's doing for the account he manages for me.

This is my personal trading account with $100,000 that I gave Sean to just collect income.

I have a bunch of other investments like anyone else, shorter-term trading accounts, retirement accounts, private equity, real estate, etc.

But none of those are dedicated specifically to collecting income. That's specifically what this account is for.

These options trades are very simple to enter, and not only is Sean sending you an email every day with what we're doing in the account, but we are also giving you 100% access to everything in my portfolio.

You can see every trade, all the P&L, and every position we currently have on, in real time.
