Buffett Is Back in Action
Berkshire disclosed ownership of almost 121 million shares, which represents an 11.5% stake in the company. We should get more information in a 13G filing soon.
HPQ is now the eleventh-largest investment for Berkshire, so this is no small bet it’s making. HPQ is rallying more than 10% in the pre-market session on this news.
It’s also worth noting that Buffett has been extra active lately following several years of restraint.
This is his second major purchase in about a month. In early March, he revealed a large position in Occidental Petroleum $OXY, which is worth about $5.3 billion today.
Both of these stocks are in strong uptrends.
Here’s The Hot List, with data through April 6, 2022:
For the fourth consecutive day, we have a Form 4 insider filing by Winder Investment Ltd, which revealed another $2 million purchase in Sensient Technologies Corp $SXT.
The firm has accumulated a total of 5.2 million shares and is now the largest shareholder with a 12% ownership interest.
Another name that stands out is the mid-cap software application company Envestnet $ENV. Impactive Capital LP just disclosed an active ownership position of 5% in a 13D filing.
Interestingly, we also saw a big splash in short-term call options for this name yesterday. Coincidence? Maybe…
There was also bullish flow in Occidental Petroleum $OXY and Lyft $LYFT.
Last but not least, over in Washington there was some activity from Rep. Kurt Schrader of Oregon, who revealed small purchases in a pair of international e-commerce stocks, MercadoLibre $MELI and Sea Limited $SE. This is a bullish bet on the emerging consumer economies in Latin America and Asia.
Stay tuned. We'll be back Friday with more insider action.
