Dow Jones Industrial Average - Biggest Recoveries since 1896

May 26, 2011

Today is officially Dow Jones Industrial Average Day. I can't think of a better time to take a look at how the current Dow recovery compares with others throughout history. dshort.com does a great job (as usual) of comparing the current Dow recovery since March '09 with the other 15 major recoveries going back to the beginning of this legendary index in 1896.

We're using inflation-adjusted Dow daily closes excluding dividends to be fair to the $GE 's of the world pre-1900. This is a powerful chart. We are in the midst of one of the most explosive Stock Market Recoveries in American History. The chart below takes you out 5000 days instead of just the 1000 in the chart above. Very cool charts. Nice job dshort.
