Unemployed for 26 Weeks

May 10, 2011

Here is the WOW! Chart of the day:

This graph shows the number of workers unemployed for 27 weeks or more.

From CalculatedRisk:

"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 5.839 million workers who have been unemployed for more than 26 weeks and still want a job. This was down from 6.122 million in March. This remains very high, and is one of the defining features of this employment recession."

It is unbelievable how this chart literally exploded after taking out the 2003 highs.
