Energy E&Ps See Bullish Options Flow

April 13, 2022

The largest insider transaction on today’s list is a Form 4 filing by Jan Barta of Pale Fire Capital.

Barta continues to grow his position in Groupon $GRPN, as this is the second large Form 4 filing in the last two weeks.

Outside of company founder Eric Lefkofsky, Barta is the largest shareholder with roughly 8% of outstanding shares.

LMR Partners LLP filed a 13G revealing a 5.6% ownership stake in the recreational vehicle manufacturer Polaris Inc $PII.

In another Form 4, Paul Rusnak, chairman and founder of Rusnak Auto Group, revealed the purchase of approximately 131,268 shares of Sonic Automotive Inc $SAH.

Here’s The Hot List, with data through April 12, 2022:

In the options market, there was bullish options activity in two energy exploration and production companies, Imperial Petroleum $IMPP and W&T Offshore $WTI.

There was bearish flow in KB Home $KBH, a mid-cap homebuilder. The home construction industry has been one of the weakest groups this year.

Over in Washington, we had a busy filing from Rep. Scott Franklin of Florida.

Franklin revealed material purchases in some of the largest companies in the world, such as Apple $AAPL, Microsoft $MSFT, Alphabet $GOOGL, Berkshire Hathaway $BRK.B, and JPMorgan $JPM.

Rep. Franklin also reported buying shares in the multinational retail corporation Walmart Inc $WMT and in the entertainment and media conglomerate The Walt Disney Company $DIS.

He did not report any sales.

The congressman appears to be making a bullish bet on the overall stock market.
