I'm Coming To Mumbai This Week

May 18, 2018

This is such a treat for me. I get to go to India to talk about Technical Analysis with hundreds of really smart and eager to learn investors from all over the country. The biggest investor conference of the year starts on May 24th and I will be the first presentation of the event. The 7th annual Traders Carnival will be Asia's largest 3 day residential conference and I could not be more excited to participate.

I was lucky enough to visit India for the first time this January. I was blown away by the experience. We had about 200 people at an event at Bloomberg in Mumbai where I was the keynote speaker. The enthusiasm for Technical Analysis was amazing. I've never seen anything like it.

That week that I spent in India, I also attended the India Investment Conference put on by the local CFA Society. They took me to race go carts, to eat unbelievable local cuisine, play cricket and see many of the beautiful sites throughout Mumbai. The experience was so inspiring that I'm coming back this week!

I will be giving 2 presentations. The first one will be the first morning of the event and I will kickoff the Traders Carnival with a discussion about the Top/Down approach to global markets. In the same way that I start with a global macro and intermarket perspective and then work my way down to U.S. Indexes, Sectors and ultimately individual stocks, I will do the same for NIFTY and SENSEX Indexes and work my way all the way down to individual equities in the NIFTY500.

This first discussion will last about 45 minutes to an hour and I will be available throughout the next 2 days to answer any questions that attendees may have about my process. I'll make sure to cover basic supply and demand dynamics that can be seen throughout markets around the world, not just in the U.S. or India. Topics for this first presentation will include Momentum, Relative Strength, Breadth Analysis, Fibonacci and Position Sizing.

The really fun part is going to be on Saturday night. They have a tradition at the Traders Carnival where one night they have an open bar and all-night charting session. Guess who is hosting this year's all-nighter? You guessed it! I'm not really sure what I signed up for, but I'm pretty sure we're going to have several hundred, let's just say enthusiastic, traders from all over India watching me walk through thousands and thousands of charts. This should be interesting, to say the least.

The best part about this whole thing is that I get to learn. That's what this is all about. All I have to do is fly out there, eat incredible food and talk about charts. I can do that in my sleep. Where I win is in the conversations in between all that. The people I've met there are way smarter than I am. They may be asking me questions, but I'll answer them and fire questions right back!

I've had the opportunity to have similar learning experiences like this in places like Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Philippines, Taiwan and Kuala Lumpur, among other places. Growing up in Miami and then living in New York for 15 years, these are countries where the people obviously come from much different cultures. It's a blessing to be able to learn from them and I could not be more grateful.

If you are in the greater Mumbai area and/or you're coming to this year's Traders Carnival, please feel free to reach out to me beforehand and we'll set up a meeting. This will be an experience of a lifetime, no doubt.

I can't wait to share with you guys everything that I learned!

Cheers,

JC
