The Must Follow Podcast: JC Parets
The crew over at Stocktwits continues to find ways to grow the social investing community and create awareness around the business, technical analysis and trading. They just launched a new series of podcasts where traders from the community are interviewed to talk about their strategy and the process of growing a business. They titled it 'The Must Follow Podcast' and asked me to be a part of their next conversion.
Here is summary and full audio interview:
If you’re a Trader, Chartist, or Market Technician, nobody embodies “the love of the game” more than JC Parets — @allstarcharts on StockTwits. JC is a true GEEK when it comes to markets. He LOVES trading and sorting through charts to uncover the handful of insanely skewed reward-to-risk opportunities that constantly present themselves — if you’re willing to do the work to find them.
In this episode of The Must Follow podcast, we learn about what motivated JC to give up his dream of playing baseball professionally — a sport he starred in all his life which landed him on a NCAA Division I team — to start in the business of trading and managing money, eventually bootstrapping his own Hedge Fund.
We discuss the challenges (and mountains of paperwork) involved in starting his own money management business and some of the unglamorous pitfalls that aren’t often discussed by traders who only see the headlines of fabulously wealthy hedge fund managers earning spectacular sums for their clients and themselves.
Then we tackle the regimented daily and weekly “top-down” routine JC strictly adheres to as he scans the entire investable world for actionable ideas, as well as his philosophy of treating diversified investments and trades as members of a basketball team — each playing an important, yet non-correlated role.
And of course, we couldn’t finish our chat without JC’s take on why some corners of the trading world hate on technical analysis — a style of market analysis that is essential to JCs process and success.
Come spend an hour with us, we had a great chat…
