The growth of social media is only accelerating. More and more market participants are utilizing social tools to learn and communicate but there is also more noise. How do smart investors and traders gain valuable insight from social tools without getting mired in the muck? We will help. Join this group of distinguished technical analysts and social media mavens to learn what methods they are using to navigate today's ever-changing financial markets. In this presentation, panelists will share specific strategies that have been successful in their own investment practice as well as their experience with the global technical community through social media networks.

detrickRyan Detrick, CMT is a senior technical strategist at Schaeffer's Investment Research in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a frequent speaker and writer on stock market and economic issues and is widely sought after by financial media for his expertise and commentary. Mr. Detrick regularly appears on CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg Television and has been quoted in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, USA Today, Reuters, the Associated Press, and others. Mr. Detrick has a decade of experience in the investment and financial services area, with areas of expertise, including short-term trading based on technical and sentiment based indicators, and advanced option trading strategies. He joined Schaeffer's in 2003. Mr. Detrick received a BA in finance from Xavier University, an MBA in finance from Miami University, and has earned his Chartered Market Technician (CMT.)

shannonBrian Shannon CMT, is a full-time trader with 20+ years of trading experience, which he shares daily in his videos at www.alphatrends.net. He is also the author of  Technical Analysis Using Multiple Timeframes.

Phil Pearlman, PhD, now serves as interactive editor at Yahoo! Finance. He was formerly an investor in and director of community for StockTwits, LLC, and co-founder of pearlmanLumina Fund Management, a long/short equity hedge fund, which focuses on behavioral and sentiment analysis to exploit under and overreactions in options markets. Dr. Pearlman currently trades a private account in New York. He is an expert in the area of market participant behavior and emotion, and consults with professional investors employing strategies adapted from empirically validated psychological treatments to improve trading performance. Dr. Pearlman has developed a proprietary prescriptive model of investor experience, which integrates empirically validated clinical models and behavioral finance. He is a contributor to Real Money, a paid service owned by TheStreet.com. Dr. Pearlman also makes angel investments in other social-media-based start-ups, and focuses on the relational and community aspects of online social networks.
